How We Research and Choose Products

Every guide on Home Lifes starts with a problem: a pan that sticks, a kettle full of scale, a knife that tears bread. We explain why it happens and what you can do with what you already own, before we suggest buying anything.

What we look at

  • Manufacturers’ specifications and care guides, so claims about materials, sizes and limits come from the people who make the product.
  • Independent UK sources, such as consumer testing organisations, the Energy Saving Trust and the Drinking Water Inspectorate, where they cover the topic.
  • Patterns in owner feedback. One bad review doesn’t rule a product out. The same complaint repeated many times does.
  • UK availability. We check each product is actually sold on Amazon UK before we link to it, and replace picks that disappear.

What we don’t do

  • We don’t claim to have tested a product unless an article says so clearly.
  • We don’t accept payment to include or rank products.
  • We don’t show prices, because they change too often to stay accurate.
  • Photos and illustrations on the site are there to explain ideas. They don’t show products we’ve personally tested.

Keeping guides current

We recheck links and availability regularly. When a product is withdrawn or replaced, we update the guide and add a short dated note at the bottom saying what changed.
